Facebook has a function that is activated by default that shows you suggestions of friendships. These suggestions are based on common friends that you have with your contacts, profile information (city of residence, work, school …) and your activity on Facebook.
The Facebook algorithm analyzes that data and periodically shows you different individuals who could be part of your network of friends, since, in some way or another, they could have some relationship, affinity or contacts that both share.
However, friendship suggestions can become a problem when they recommend many strangers or, simply, you are not interested in adding more individuals that you know halfway or do not care. Therefore, if you want to cut off these suggestions, in this article you will learn what you should do.
Steps to disable Facebook’s friendship suggestions
Facebook allows you to change its configuration to deactivate the suggestions completely. The procedure is the same in the Facebook application for Android and iOS, as in the desktop and desk computers version:
– Enter the Facebook app and touch the icon of your profile located in the upper right angle.
– A menu will open with several options, lower the cursor and select «Configuration and privacy».
– In the new window, choose «Configuration».
– Scroll down and enter “notifications.”
– Once within the new section, oppress “people you may know”
– Finally, deactivate the “Allow notifications on Facebook» function.
That is all you should do, with this it will be enough so that Facebook suggestions do not reappear in the application or on the web platform. If one day you want to activate them again, follow the same procedure and turn on the “allow notifications on Facebook” option.
